Multi-Resolution Spatio-Temporal Analysis of Atmospheric Contamination

In a typical atmospheric contamination, “gas leaks” for instance, people are able to identify a deliberate pungent odor and the system responsible for the contamination contents have other various safe guards in place to protect environmental contamination. What happens when the contamination is deliberate and none of the safe guards are followed? In this talk, we discuss how to estimate a point of origin for contamination in such a case through the use of meteorological models (called dynamic spatio-temporal models), spectral decomposition distribution building and the need for developing statistical testing in this distributed sensor-driven environment. Due to the small time constraint, we will view this at a high level; touching on the various components, mathematical and computational, necessary for analysis.
